Spring 2007 Handbag Collection

So I've begun designing my Spring 2007 collection. As a designer, I always hope that my designs will be well received but, as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Colors are yet another factor to consider. The Pantone Fashion Color Report for Spring 2007 is now available. Apparently these colors are hot for Spring:

While Pantone is 'tried and true', I would love to get your (my customers and potential customers) feedback regarding colors, and your interests and factors in choosing a handbag. So, please participate in my poll and let me know what colors you'd like in a bag.

Y-3 Fashion Show

So last night I worked the Y-3 fashion show (Yohji Yamamoto for Adidas). Backstage wasn't as much of a frenzy as I expected, unless you count the missing shirt. Anyway, the clothes were very cutting edge, and some, over the edge. I was paired with a male model named Victor. Here he is below, in his two looks:

Rain, rain, go away!

It’s pouring here in New York, as well as throughout most of the country, courtesy of Tropical Storms Ernesto and John. Though your Labor Day beach or barbeque plans may have been ruined, you can at least look stylish amidst the awful weather.

I recommend the “Sky Umbrella” from the MoMA Store. Every time I look up I see blue skies and (for a brief moment) I imagine I’m on a sunny beach in the Caribbean. These Kate Spade “Ruby” rain boots are both practical and stylish, and coordinate well with the umbrella and the Stylesse Biker Babe Hobo, which is a great bag, rain or shine!

New T-Shirts!

I just created a few new designs for Stylesse T-shirts. (The designs are available on tank tops as well). My future goal is to create a line of clothing to accompany the handbags (not, not matchy-matchy!!), but since I'm just starting out, I wanted to begin with some cool tanks and tees. So today I received an e-mail from the Senior Editor of a fairly well-known fashion magazine who wants to feature some of my bags in their October issue! I'm beyond excited!

I've blurred the magazine cover and will reveal it in October, when it is printed. First person to guess the right magazine may win a gift from Stylesse!

I’m in love with Michael Kors…

Ok, so I’m a Project Runway groupie. I love the original designs, the professionalism of Tim Gunn and the snarkiness of Nina Garcia, but most of all, the fabulousness of Michael Kors. I really adore his design aesthetic. I’d been eyeing the MK Astor Pumps for months and actually bought them a few months ago in the “Luggage” color, but returned them because they didn’t really match anything in my wardrobe.

But today, I found them on sale at Macy’s, marked down to $20 (from $129!!!). This color, “Chamois”, is a bit more versatile, and I can pair it up with the Stylesse Karma Chameleon Clutch, the Anthropologie Olive Swirl turtleneck, and Radcliffe Denim – Skinny Jeans.

What do you think of this outfit?

Olympus Fashion Week ~ Spring 2007

Back in January, I read in the Wall Street Journal about a company that dresses models backstage during Fashion Week. So of course I immediately applied to work with them. I mean, who wouldn't want to work in the tents at a major fashion show? So 2 days ago, I received an email from the company stating that I had been selected to work at Olympus Fashion Week (Spring 2007 Collections). Oh, the joy!

So today I attended an orientation for the position, where the covered rules and regulations, and other exciting details. I don't know yet which show(s) I can attend - I'll keep you posted. But does it really matter? I'm going to Fashion Week!
